Classic Racer Black Biker Cowhide Leather Jacket Motorcycle

For the asking price, this jacket is exceptional.

The first thing I want to mention is the customer service. Before shipping, a member of staff contacted me several times to check my measurements and make sure that the size I had chosen would fit properly. That level of attention is unusual and gave me confidence before the jacket had even arrived.

I can also compare this jacket directly with a Schott LC940D made in Pakistan. I ordered the Schott through Amazon, inspected it carefully after delivery and returned it immediately because it did not meet my expectations in terms of materials, hardware and construction, especially considering the price being asked for it.

In my personal comparison, the Vintage Leather jacket makes the much more substantial impression. The leather feels thicker and more robust. The YKK zips feel solid, and the hardware is convincing. On the Schott LC940D I received, the zip pulls were attached with extremely thin metal chains, and the press studs and zips felt noticeably lighter and less substantial.

The construction of the Vintage Leather jacket is another major difference. It has a bi-swing back and additional leather inserts under the arms. These features provide considerably more freedom of movement around the shoulders and arms. When the arms move forward, the folds at the back can open and reduce tension across the shoulders.

This also affects how the jacket sits when worn. The Schott LC940D I tried showed pronounced folding and bunching behind the upper arms. The Vintage Leather jacket sits much cleaner in this area while still allowing very good movement.

Considering the substantial cowhide, YKK zips and the more elaborate shoulder construction, I find the value for money extremely strong, especially at the price being asked for this jacket.

There is, however, one significant negative point: the smell.

The jacket arrived with a very strong chemical odour. I am familiar with the normal smell of new leather, and this was clearly different. The smell is penetrating, artificial and unpleasant. It significantly affects the otherwise very positive first impression and is something the manufacturer should address. For that reason, I can only give it four stars.

Apart from that issue, I am very impressed. Excellent customer service, substantial leather, solid hardware, very good freedom of movement and a thoughtful construction at a remarkably competitive asking price.

I had been looking at a Schott LC940D for £200 (discounted from £325) but was concerned about the slim fit and the absence of a bi-swing back. The jacket I purchased from Vintage Leather is a regular fit and has the bi-swing back. The fit is perfect for me (ordered a size large, expecting to have to change to an XL). Customer services contacted me about sizing before the jacket was dispatched. Even with the additional removable lining I can comfortably wear a hoody underneath and without the extra lining the jacket still fits fine in just a T shirt. All in all a carefully designed jacket that is extremely comfortable to wear giving unrestricted arm and shoulder movement. For £130 this is an absolute bargain! One constructive comment might be that with a price point that is so low relative to the more upmarket competition is that increasing the quality of cowhide used would make this jacket absolutely perfect and still remain very competitively priced. My intention was to buy a lighter weight cafe racer style jacket for casual wear. This jacket weighs 2.15kg. For reference my Foxcreek motorcycle jacket (similar cafe racer design) weighs 3.6kg.
You will not go wrong buying this jacket from Vintage Leather!

The jacket is heavier and warmer than I was expecting at this price point. Good thick leather and good zips.
